We feature another fragrant rose this month, but this one has stood the test of time and is widely regarded as one of the best roses to grow.
Margaret Merril is a pearly white floribunda, with clusters of strongly fragrant blooms all summer long. While lacking the sheer flower power of the famous Iceberg, it does provide a good show in the garden and will also perform well when picked and brought inside for a vase.
A medium to taller grower, upright in nature and with good disease tolerance, it also makes an excellent standard rose in any garden.
A prize winner all around the world, including New Zealand where it won the overall Gold Star of the South Pacific award and Most Fragrant rose at the New Zealand Rose Society trials in Palmerston North. It is also very popular with members of the New Zealand Rose Society, having been consistently rated as one of the best floribunda and fragrant roses.
