Congratulations to Rachael Chalmers who was presented with Life Membership of the New Zealand Rose Society at the South Island Rose Ranfurly in Rangiora. Rachael first joined the Southland Rose Society in 2005, holding several positions until moving to Dunedin in 2013.
In 2011, Rachael was appointed as Editor of the New Zealand Rose Annual, a position she held until 2018. During that time, Rachael oversaw the change to a full colour publication while still retaining a good blend of articles. Rachael also took on the role of selling scarves as a fundraiser for the New Zealand Rose Society.
Rachael remained on the NZRS Council for a further year, but her service was not done yet with Rachael stepping up to serve as NZRS Secretary from 2022 – 2024. Having never acted as a Show Secretary, Rachael took on the role for the 2023 and 2024 National Rose Shows.
Rachael has strongly supported South Island Ranfurly weekends and has attended many National Rose Shows.
Throughout her involvement with the rose society, Rachael has been supported by her family especially her husband Stephen.
