Love is like a red, red rose so said the great Scottish poet Robbie Burns. So what better rose to feature in the month when Valentine’s Day occurs then Lasting Love.
A new rose to New Zealand, Lasting Love is a great all-round performer. The dusky red blooms have the most alluring fragrance so it’s bound to be popular wherever it’s grown (or given to!) and mostly come in clusters. Red new growth compliments the blooms well, as does the very glossy foliage which is not surprisingly, very disease tolerant.
A medium growing plant, Lasting Love will fit into any garden and also makes a good standard rose, bringing the fragrance closer to the nose.
Winner of the Most Fragrant Rose in 2006 at the New Zealand Rose of the Year trials in Hamilton, Lasting Love comes from Michel Adam of France
