NOVEMBER EVENTS:
SATURDAY 16TH NOVEMBER, 10-3PM – ROSE DISPLAY AT THE KIOSK, BOTANIC GARDENS
Please bring along your roses so that we can put on a fantastic display for members of the public. There will be a raffle, sales table with roses, calendars and cards, plus the opportunity to talk all things roses. The rose gardens in the Botanic Gardens should also be in bloom by then.
THURSDAY 21ST NOVEMBER, 7.30PM – ROSE SOCIETY MEETING AT THE KIOSK, BOTANIC GARDENS
Our November meeting will be the first of our Table Shows and our President Michael will be talking us through how we select and present our roses at a Show. Please bring along any rose blooms you may have, even if you are new to showing roses, and there will be plenty of people on hand to answer your questions and help you show your blooms. There are classes for everyone including a vase glass to display your roses, foliage and any other flowers in your garden. Vases are provided. Please arrive at 7pm if you are going to be putting your roses in the Table Show.
FRIDAY 29TH NOVEMBER, 10-3PM – ROSE SHOW AT BURWOOD HOSPITAL
This is a combined Burwood Hospital and Canterbury Rose Society event. There will be a Table Show for rose society members and a separate show for Burwood Hospital staff. There will be roses for sale, a raffle and a sales table. Hope you can join us for what has been a very successful event in past years.
Membership is $30 annually (March-February or part thereof). Membership of the Canterbury Rose Society automatically gives you membership of the New Zealand Rose Society. Members receive two publications – the “Rose Annual” and the “Rose Review”. These can be collected from one of our meetings/garden visits. If you would like to have the publications posted to you, there will be a postage cost of $10.
Canterbury Rose Society members have the benefit of local vendor discounts, a regular (monthly during the growing season) electronic newsletter, and free entry to our catch ups and table shows as well as garden visits and pruning demonstrations. We have a wide variety of plant specialists who come to speak at our meetings. If you would like to join our society, our bank account details are as follows:
