The New Zealand Rose Society was successful with two nominations for awards at the 18th World Rose Convention held in Denmark recently. The rose garden at Mona Vale is part of the four hectare public park which includes the historic Mona Vale homestead. First planted in 1970, the rose garden was first planted and has until recent times, been maintained by the local rose society. There is a good collection of modern and heritage varieties on display. Located adjacent to Christchurch Hospital in Hagley Park, the garden was established in 1950 and remodelled in 1999. It has an extensive collection of roses underplanted and interspersed with a range of other garden plants.
