Parnell Rose Garden – Auckland

Also known as the Dove Myer Robinson Park, the gardens contain over 5000 roses which create a blaze of colour throughout summer and autumn. It is a popular attraction in the suburb of Parnell, not far from down town Auckland. The adjacent Nancy Steen Garden contains a collection of heritage roses while the white garden is a popular venue for weddings.

Greetings . I will be visiting Auckland in early Nov . As a fan of horticulture I will be on a Collette Garden Tour of NZ (22 days ).
Could anyone there advise me of a connection to Charles Stewart Parnell of Ireland? Was the Parnell District settled by his extended family ?

I am the great-great- niece of his brother who was the first to propagate peaches in the U.S. state of Alabama in the later 1800’s.

If anyone had time to direct me to a place for High Tea ( and be my guest ) ..that would be lovely.

I am a retired Social Worker from southern California .

Thank you in advance for your time,

    Rose Mary Parnell Perrone
