Opened in 2001, the garden is a collection of roses collected by world renown rosarian Trevor Griffiths. Designed by Sir Miles Warren, the garden contains over 1100 varieties of roses – mostly heritage, species and David Austin varieties.
In 2012, the garden received the World Federation of Rose Societies Garden of Excellence Award.

Visited the rose garden 3 days after the hail storm in Timaru November 2019
Blooming lovely and that was after the hail storm. The garden is back in full splendor
